ONE WEEK EQUINE SCULPTURE WORKSHOP
July 10th - July 14th 2017
Goksin Carey / Equine Sculptor
The National Sporting Library and Museum and the Artists in Middleburg (AiM) invite you, including those who live a distance, to experience equine sculpting for an intensive weeklong workshop with expert sculptor and instructor, Goksin Carey www.sculptinghorses.com. The workshop will be held at the National Sporting Library and Museum in the beautiful town of Middleburg, VA, the “Nation’s Horse and Hunt Capital.” It is conveniently located to Washington DC and Dulles International Airport.
The workshop is open to all levels of experience – from beginner to professional. Everyone is welcome – no previous experience in sculpture is necessary. Students of all levels work together at their own pace and receive individualized instruction. The workshop is small, 5-7 students, so you will receive extensive, individual feedback and hands-on instruction.
The student’s “eye” will continue to be developed, by sculpting through observation and understanding the ABC's of equine sculpting:
A- Anatomy, B- Biomechanics, C- Conformation.
You will learn the landmarks of the equine anatomy on a sculptural form, positive and negative parts of a sculpture and learning to sculpt inside out (the bone and muscle structure).
Monday through Friday: 9-4:30 daily,
with an hour lunch break (12-1)
Enrollment: 5-7 students
Monday - Tuesday: Completing a horse bust
Wednesday-Thursday: Completing a full horse
Friday: Finishing both sculptures
Visiting the foundry, having a tour for the molding and casting in bronze process. Understanding anatomy, movement and landmarks of a horse by using a live horse.
Workshop fee: $460
*A $200 nonrefundable deposit is required at time of registration. Balance of $260 can be paid at the first day of the class.
